Cookie and browser storage policy
Effective date:
This policy explains how BritGamePath uses cookies and similar browser storage on britgamepath.com. It describes the information saved to remember your preference, how long it lasts and how you can change or remove it. It applies to this website; a gaming platform you visit through an external link has its own storage practices.
1. Cookies and local storage
A cookie is a small text value saved by your browser for a website. Your browser can send that value with later requests to the same site, subject to the cookie’s settings. Cookies can therefore help a website recognise an earlier preference without asking you to repeat it on every page.
Local storage also saves information in your browser, but it does not automatically accompany website requests. Site code reads it when needed. In this policy, “browser storage” covers both technologies. Both are specific to the browser and device you use: a choice on your laptop does not automatically apply to your phone or another browser.
2. Storage used by this site
BritGamePath uses the following first-party entries to remember your consent choice. The matching names identify two copies of the preference, rather than two separate tracking services. The saved record contains your choice, its timestamp and a version identifier; it does not contain details submitted through the contact form.
| Name and storage type | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
britgamepath.com:cookie-consent:v1Local storage | BritGamePath | Remember the visitor’s consent choice | Necessary preference storage | Until cleared by the visitor or site code; freshness checked after 180 days |
britgamepath.com:cookie-consent:v1Cookie | BritGamePath | Remember the visitor’s consent choice | Necessary preference storage | 31,536,000 seconds (365 days); preference renewal checked after 180 days |
The preference has a six-month renewal period, implemented as 180 days. This is separate from the cookie’s browser expiry of one year. Local storage has no automatic browser expiry, so the site checks the timestamp when reading the record. A fresh choice replaces the saved decision.
No optional analytics or advertising storage is used by this implementation. Following a link to an external game provider takes you outside this policy; review that provider’s cookie notice before choosing its settings. Your BritGamePath preference does not control another website.
3. Changing your preference
The consent notice offers equally accessible Accept and Reject buttons, alongside Manage preferences. Necessary preference storage remembers either decision. Rejecting optional storage does not remove that preference record, because keeping it allows us to remember that you rejected. No optional analytics or advertising services are enabled before a choice.
To review or withdraw your choice, use Cookie settings in the footer at the bottom of this page. It reopens the existing consent control. Choose Accept or Reject to replace your decision, or review Manage preferences and use Save preferences. You can repeat this process whenever you wish.
After 180 days, the site requests a fresh choice. If browser restrictions prevent saving the record, the site remains readable and honours your selection for the current page; the notice may appear again on a later visit. Changing your mind does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
4. Browser controls
You can also manage storage through your browser. Menu names vary, but the following steps work as a general guide:
- Open your browser’s Settings and find Privacy, Cookies or Site data.
- Search the stored site data for britgamepath.com.
- Remove both cookies and local storage for this domain to clear the saved preference.
- Reload the website and make a new choice when the notice appears.
Removing only one entry may leave the other copy available. Clearing all browsing data can also remove preferences for other websites, so use the site-specific controls when possible. Private browsing may discard the preference when its windows close. Blocking storage does not prevent reading our guides or using navigation, although you may need to repeat your choice.
5. Policy updates
This policy takes effect on 16 October 2026. We review it when our storage practices change and update the inventory before introducing new storage. Where consent is required for a new purpose, we will request it before enabling that use. Check the effective date when revisiting this document to see which version applies.
