Privacy policy
Effective from
This policy explains how British Digital List handles personal information connected with BritGamePath, our UK editorial guide to digital gaming websites. It covers reader enquiries, the browser preference used by this website, and your data protection rights. It also explains what happens when you follow a link to another website.
1. Who is responsible for your information
British Digital List operates britgamepath.com and is responsible for deciding how personal information handled for the site is used. Our correspondence address is 71 Queen Victoria Street, London EC4V 4AY, United Kingdom.
Send privacy enquiries to [email protected] or use our contact form. You can also telephone +44 20 8058 4176. Our support hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 UK time, excluding UK bank holidays. Please mark correspondence “Privacy request” so it can be directed appropriately, and describe the information or concern involved without including unnecessary sensitive details.
2. Information you choose to share
The contact form asks for your name, email address and message. Correspondence may also include information you volunteer when asking a question or reporting an editorial error. We do not ask for account passwords, payment details or identity documents as part of a routine enquiry. Please remove other people's personal information from screenshots or examples before sending them.
Loading a webpage involves technical request information needed to deliver it, such as the requested page and browser connection details. This policy does not describe a visitor tracking profile or a retained IP address log. If operational security logs are used, the limited review and retention approach in section 6 applies.
The implemented browser storage remembers your consent choice. No optional analytics or advertising storage is planned. The same preference key is used in two places:
| Storage and name | Provider and purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
Local storagebritgamepath.com:cookie-consent:v1 | BritGamePath; necessary preference storage containing your choice, timestamp and version. | Remains until cleared by you or site code; the recorded choice is treated as expired after six months. |
Cookiebritgamepath.com:cookie-consent:v1 | BritGamePath; remembers the same consent choice as a first-party preference. | Maximum browser lifetime of 31,536,000 seconds (one year); the choice itself expires after six months. |
These preference records do not contain your contact form message. See our Cookie Policy for more about browser controls and managing the preference.
3. How information is used
We use enquiry details to understand and answer reader questions, investigate corrections, and consider feedback about our editorial coverage. A reply may require checking an earlier message so that we can address the same issue consistently. We use only the details relevant to that conversation.
The browser preference prevents us from repeatedly asking for your decision during its valid period and allows you to change that decision. We do not sell enquiry data or enrol people who contact us in a marketing subscription. Sending feedback does not give permission to publish your name, email address or message as a testimonial.
4. Legal bases and consent
Under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, we rely on legitimate interests to handle voluntary editorial enquiries: readers benefit from answers and accurate information, and we need to consider feedback about our work. We balance that interest against the effect on your privacy, limit the information involved, and consider objections individually.
Necessary preference storage supports the choice you make in the consent control. Any optional storage would require consent before activation. Rejecting optional storage remains an effective choice; accepting does not currently enable analytics or advertising services. Use Cookie settings in the footer to revisit your choice. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful beforehand. A legal obligation may separately require limited retention or disclosure, for example in response to a binding lawful request.
6. Retention and deletion
Routine enquiry correspondence, where retained, is deleted 12 months after the enquiry is closed. Closure means the question has been answered or no further action is reasonably expected. If a dispute or legal duty requires longer retention, we keep only the relevant material and review the need when that matter ends. The static form itself is not a record archive.
If operational security logs are used, they are reviewed within 30 days and deleted when no longer needed; information linked to a specific incident may be retained until the investigation is resolved. Consent choices expire after six months and can be replaced through Cookie settings. Clearing browser storage can remove the record sooner, although the consent control may then appear again.
7. Protecting information
Our approach is to minimise collection, limit access to people who need the information, and avoid unnecessary copies of correspondence. We take proportionate steps to review access and respond to reports of accidental disclosure. If an incident triggers notification duties under data protection law, we assess and meet those duties.
No website or communication method can guarantee absolute security. Please do not send passwords, card numbers, medical information or other sensitive material through an editorial enquiry. If you believe you have sent something sensitive by mistake, contact us promptly with enough context to locate the message.
8. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights to:
- Access your personal information and receive an explanation of its use.
- Correct inaccurate information or complete information that is incomplete.
- Request erasure or restrict processing where the legal conditions apply.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests, explaining your situation.
- Receive portable data where processing is automated and based on consent or a contract.
Email [email protected] or use the contact form to exercise a right. Tell us which right you wish to use and how we can identify the relevant correspondence. We may ask for proportionate verification to protect information from disclosure to the wrong person.
We normally respond within one month. Where a lawful extension is needed because a request is complex or numerous, we explain the reason and revised timing within that first month. Rights are subject to legal exceptions, which we will explain where applicable. You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, whether or not you have contacted us first.
9. Children and personal information
We do not knowingly solicit personal details from children under 13. A child with an editorial question should ask a parent or guardian to contact us instead. If you believe a child has sent personal information, please tell us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
BritGamePath is an editorial guide. Individual games and platforms have different age ratings and eligibility rules; check the official platform and rating before playing or creating an account.
10. Policy changes
This policy takes effect on 16 October 2026. We review it when our enquiry process, browser storage or legal requirements change. Material revisions will appear on this page with an updated effective date and an explanation where helpful. Revisit this policy when sending a new enquiry to understand the current arrangements.
